this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that
to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be
pro-active.

HERE IT IS, AS PROMISED: THE
STATE OF HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA: FEBRILE AND IN PAIN.
First of all: who am I to presume to
speak for this massive subject, which consumes about 18% of America's Gross
National Product...and growing.
"WITH GRADES LIKE THAT,
THE ONLY WAY YOU'LL GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL IS AS A CADAVER".
Well, that was never me.
I was accepted into Medical School
after three years of College.
I graduated Medical School after 4
years.
I served three years in internship
and Internal Medicine Residency.
I served two years in the U.S. Army
Medical Corps as a Captain responsible for a 20 bed general medical and
cardiology ward in the 97th General Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany.
I served nearly two years in an
Allergy and Clinical Immunology Fellowship.
I have served 60 years in private
allergy and chest disease practice, and continuing.
I have worked in Primary Care and in
Emergency Care practice.
I have served as President of the
New London County Medical Association.
But enough about me. Let's talk
about the Health Care we all depend upon, and which is now fraying badly- and
perhaps irreversibly.
First, the Subject of all of this
attention: THE PATIENT.
- 50% OF
ALL DISEASE, ILLNESS AND NEED FOR MEDICAL CARE IS LIFE-STYLE RELATED - AND
COULD BE MODIFIED OR REVERSED BY CHANGE IN LIFE-STYLE.
- What
can generally not be changed is Heredity and the patient's formative
environment - at least not yet.
- What a
person should spend much more time considering is the possible Toxicity of
his or her work environment; not only the asbestos kind, but also the
mental/emotional stress kind...also toxic and a high interest mortgage on
your future.
- The
same relates to 'life-style: active, sedentary, risky (as including
alcohol and drug abuse)....
- The
presence or absence of LOVING RELATIONSHIPS, including with one's
God.
Now for the HEALTH CARE
PROFESSIONS.
A) Traditional / Optimal: MD; DO,
and the many formal Specialties, all embracing Education, Training and
Experience.
B) The Nursing Professions: LPN, RN,
NP, APRN. Much more limited education, training and experience - But of
great value when associated directly in practice with a Traditional colleague.
When allowed to work independently, they know what they know. They do not know
what they do not know.
C) Unfortunately, some
"leaders" in these fields are now allowing the rigorous and necessary
education / training to be diluted with constructs like "Woke" and
"Equity" vs. Equality and Meritocracy -
which actions can only dilute and pollute the ultimate product.
D) Mechanisms of Compensation: Pay
for services rendered - best effort Vs. Pay for "Quality and
Outcome"...aka become an Insurer of the patient's health care and results.
E) Private Practice vs. Employee (
reward for spending less time with patient vs. penalty for spending more time -
I kid you not).
F) The World of Health Insurance:
Profit Motive; Prior Authorization; Delay....
G) Regulatory requirements and
Abuse.
The Results To Date:
Reduced quality and preparation of
Candidates.
"Nine to Five" mentality.
Depression.
Burn-out.
Suicide
Inability or Delay in contacting
one's "Provider" - itself a derogatory term. (The three most
important attributes of a physician for his patient are Ability, Affability,
and Availability.)
Leaving medical practice, adding to
present and future inadequacy of numbers of Medical Professionals.
WHAT TO DO?
1) Educate yourself on the above.
2) DO YOUR PART, AT LEAST FOR
YOURSELF.
3) FIGHT LIKE HELL...RATTLE THE
CAGE, WHEN YOU PERCEIVE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR HEALTH CARE: QUALITY,
QUANTITY, ATTITUDE....
"I'm Mad As Hell - And I'm Not Gonna Take It Anymore".
4) TRY TO STAY OUT OF THE EMERGENCY
ROOM, which today reminds me of the "Three Day Blue Plate Special"
hospitalization epidemic in the early years of the Medicare Act.
As my Italian piano professor used
to say: "CATCH ME WHAT I MEANS?"

THIS IS MY "STATE OF THE
UNION" MESSAGE: THE AMERICAN
UNION IS SICK.
The symptoms and signs are
everywhere, as will be documented below.
The Diagnosis ranges from a Vague
Sense of Unease...through Anxiety...to Panic...all based upon a now-established
sense of LOSS OF CONTROL, LOSS OF FREEDOM AND INDEPENDENCE, all now being
snatched into the hands of faceless individuals and groups, possibly
irreversibly.
And each citizen / patient's
personal response to this disease varies...from passive isolation to
ineffective complaining to Acting Out: domestic violence, road irresponsibility
or rage, anger permeating all social encounters, substance abuse of all kinds,
to weapon violence against perceived tormentors. And at times to Suicide, but
only After Acting Out.
ALL OF THIS IS SICK - AND
CONTAGEOUS, even to the point of World War. For this disease spectrum is
permeating the entire world.
In America, we will be lucky if we
can peacefully treat the symptoms until the 2024 national elections...without a
national sepsis of violence infecting the body politic beforehand.
Those election results must be
PERCEIVED as having been FAIR - and must result in a total repudiation of the
demented and despotic current game plan of the Woke and Cancel Culture
Leftists.
Now let's look at the Symptoms and
Clinical Signs.
- Morality
/ Faith vs. Secular /Immorality - anything goes.
- Human
Biology (male and female) vs. "Whatever..."
- The
Equality of All Human Life vs. "Race", "Us vs.
Them"....
- The
Sanctity and Defense of All Human Life, from its origins in the fertilized
human ovum to natural and supported death vs. whatever is convenient for
the rest of us.
- The
prime importance of FAMILY and family life vs. the denigration of
family life, including through "single parent families" - itself
a denigration.
- The
role of the Teaching Profession vs. in recent decades reduced to a
"Craft" - if that...as many hundreds of millions no longer
attend formal schools.
- "Law
and Order" vs the current disintegration of Law and Justice, and the
primacy of "Lie, Cheat and Steal - so long as you can get away with
it.
- Freedom
- and Responsibility - of the Press vs. the inability any longer to rely
on the "Mainstream Media" to present Facts and declared Opinion:
Lie, Cheat and Steal.
- Controlled
Immigration for a Nation of Immigrants vs.national borders totally open to
too many, including the physically and mentally ill, criminals individual
and organized...
- Proper
Treatment and Control of the Mentally Ill vs. cruel and dangerous lack of
both treatment and control.
- Evaluation
and proper treatment of "The Homeless" vs. cruel and dangerous
lack of both treatment and control.
- Effective
and available Health Care for All who can and therefore Should care for
themselves. Over half of illness and disease in America is life-style
caused or related.
"Meanwhile, back at the
ranch..."
Organized Religion,
including the Catholic Church, is going into Schism mode due to unwillingness
to take a leadership role in addressing honestly the above truly moral issues.
The Medical and the other Medical
Scientific Professions are beginning to "Go Along
to Get Along". SHAMEFUL. More on this in a later Rapid Response.
The Legal / Juris Prudence
Professions, always considering
"Flexibiity" an arrow in their quill, now allowing
"flexibility" to destroy the Law's legitimacy.

But the subject being the State of
Connecticut, which I have pointed out numerous times regularly falls among the
worst few States in all the Bad categories,
and the State evidently having
succumbed to the current pandemic of Leftist Stupidity, Chairman Proto
demonstrates remarkable self-control.
"If a person is not a Liberal
when he is young, he has no heart. If he is not Conservative when he is older,
HE HAS NO BRAINS".

Democrat Lunacy Continues in Hartford
CT Democrats Spend the Week Proposing Reparations, higher Landlord Taxes, & Encouraging Homelessness
By
this point in the legislative session it has become clear that
Connecticut Democrats are hyper-focused on trying to pass ridiculous,
partisan, far-left legislation that solves nothing but makes
Connecticut even more unaffordable.
This week's insane
proposals even included reparations-yes, you read that right;
Connecticut Democrats are proposing a racially based direct transfer of
wealth, similar to what Democrats did in San Francisco, that would
bankrupt Connecticut and drive taxes to outrageously high levels.
In addition to this impractical and racially offensive
proposal, Democrats also proposed bills that would prohibit
municipalities from discouraging vagrancy, as well as legislation
putting a landlord tax in place- putting property owners on the hook
for any funding the state might not return to towns based on car tax
revenue.
"You start to run out of words to describe just how
out-of-touch, how utterly insane and idiotic these proposals are" said
State Republican Chairman Ben Proto, "Reparations?! Clearly Connecticut
Democrats have no grasp of the economic woes they have placed upon
Connecticut residents. Bills banning armrests on benches so
vagrants can sleep on them easier? These are things the average
person would think were a joke- but they're real proposals from
Democrats in Hartford. They are not a serious party, they do not
know how to govern, they are not beginning to address any of the very
real issues the people of Connecticut are facing. Crime, economic
stagnation, inflation, out of control taxes; these are the real issues
Connecticut residents are facing, and these are the issues Connecticut
Republicans in Hartford are working to address; unfortunately, the
Democrat majority continues to live in a progressive fantasy world, a
world where Democrat run government controls every aspect of our lives,
and takes away any meaning choice any of has to manage and live our
lives" continued Proto.
"Voters should take note of the
lack of seriousness with which Democrats approach governing this
state. It is time for adult supervision at the Capital,
unfortunately Governor Lamont is lacking in that leadership quality as
well. The need for change in leadership, the need for a better
government, the need for a better, more affordable Connecticut has
never been clearer" concluded Proto.

I
fired Ilhan Omar because she was hurling anti-semitic and anti-American
Remarks across social media. This is UNACCEPTABLE behavior for a member
of a committee representing America on the world stage.
I
fired Eric Swalwell from the intelligence committee because he became
entangled with a spy for the Chinese Communist party. I do not have to
explain to you why this would be a conflict of interest for someone
sitting on the Intelligence Committee.
I
fired Adam Schiff from the Intelligence Committee because he spread
lies about Donald Trump’s supposed involvement with Russia despite
knowing them to be untrue at the time.
Adam Schiff leaked it?
I promised you that if we took back the majority, I would bring decency and justice to the people’s House.
PROMISES MADE
PROMISES KEPT
STAND WITH US
I will not stop until we get this country back on track. But the Democrats are FURIOUS at what we have been doing.
Even now, Omar, Schiff, and Swalell are raising MILLIONS off their terminations. They will not stop until they return to power.
We
cannot let this happen. I promise to fight with everything I have to
stop this from happening, and with your support, we will succeed.

consideration, without references... of which I have scores but no time to
offer them. Do your own research - but CAVEAT EMPTOR.
1) THE BALLOON: If considered a Spy
by our Military, it should have been destroyed long before traversing our
homeland.
2) 'If you seek Peace, prepare
for War". Today that means preserving Ukraine, protecting
Israel, and checking the moves of Iran, China and North Korea at every turn.
3) Domestically, the Democrats need
a put-down and the Republicans need a Make-over.
The Democrats now are infested with
the STUPIDS, the Secular - AMORALS and the LAZIES. Our Black and Brown Brethren
should have nothing to do with them.
The Republicans: WITHER OR WHITHER.
They lost their opportunity Last November because of one issue: Abortion. They
will lose in 2024 for the same reason...unless they can regain their recent
brand as the Party of the Middle Class and of Common Sense. To do this - and to
trump the effect of Abortion - they must re-offer Donald Trump - unless he
self-destructs.
4) THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: Forget
"Pray, Pay and Obey". The Church is already entering a schism,
which was totally avoidable with Vatican ll, if its call for dialogue regarding
critical moral issues had been embraced...rather than immediately attacked and
ignored by reactionaries during the last 60 years.
We need honest and engaged DIALOGUE
regarding critical moral issues of great relevance to THE BODY OF THE CHURCH :
THE LAITY!.
5) SOCIAL MEDIA and their impact on
at least two current generations has been the continuing stagnation of those
generations. And their effects continue in Middle Age and even beyond. WHAT A
SHAME, for all of us. WAKE UP!!
6) EDUCATION, from pre-school through
graduate school, should ordinarily be expected to be the treatment for such
Stagnation. But Not Now, where all levels of Education are engaged in a RACE TO
THE BOTTOM. WHAT A SHAME.
7) And what is being explored to
save us? ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. ARE YOU
MAD? AI is already capable of passing graduate school exams without
"cramming". At this rate, humans will be relegated to the role of
HOUSE PETS for the AI. The Singularity Is Here.
8) American Health Care, until very
recent times, was rightly considered the best in the world...in its quality if
not in its distribution. That is changing rapidly. The reasons for that decline
are manifold - and will require a LONG Rapid Response offering by itself.
