this rapid-fire world of ours. Of course, as in military
campaigns,
a rapid response in one direction may occasionally have to be followed
by a "strategic withdrawal" in another direction. Charge that
to
"the fog of war", and to the necessary flexibility any mental or
military
campaign must maintain to be effective. But the mission will
always
be the same: common sense, based upon facts and "real politick",
supported
by a visceral sense of Justice and a commitment to be
pro-active.
That's all I promise.

'WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE,
SWEET LOVE".
Not serial "hook-ups" and
one-night stands.
Not marriages with no intention of
having children...or even of being faithful to each other.
Not "...'til death do us
part"; just until a better offer comes along.
Not a world with hundreds of
millions of aborted babies, and so many children raised in one-parent homes -
or no parents.
SO: WHAT IS LOVE?
"Brothers and sisters: strive
eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. But I shall show you a still more excellent
way.
If I speak in human and angelic
tongues, but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal. And
if I have the gift of prophecy, and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge;
if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am
nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I
may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It is
not jealous, it is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not
seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over
injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things.
Love never fails. It there are

nations. Fertile ground for mischief by all. A mess.
- Canada
and Mexico. Good neighbors - with their own agendas.

America. A mess, partly of our own making.
- Cuba
and Venezuela. Potential colonies for Russian / Chinese aggression against
U.S.
- South
American nations. Our challenge: to keep them Western.
And then: Our Nation.
- Divided
almost as badly as in the later 1850's. Beware!

There is No Question any more as to
where the current Democratic Party and its Leftist leaders are trying mightily
to bring us.
Whether their plan embraces the
fevered socialist goals of Bernie Sanders, or "just" the willingness
to eliminate the fillibuster in its intent toward compromise, they are
committed to a totalitarian / despotic takeover of our representative and
constitutional American Government. Their own efforts in Congress in recent
weeks - and continuing, and the addled performance of the asterisk *president
Biden leave no doubt as to the challenge facing All Americans.
Two recent publications underscore
this challenge.
- "The
Way Out", by Larry Arnn (in Imprimis, November 2021 - Hillsdale
College.EDU);
- "A
Republic, If You Can Keep It", by USSC Justice Neil
Gorsuch (Crown Forum/Penguin Random House LLC, C 2021).
As noted in the first reference:
"If we put these facts together
as a people, we will have recovered the understanding that produced the
American Revolution. We will stop these current predations upon our
rights. We will bring this overwhelming government back where it belongs, under
the control of the people. The signs of such a movement are emerging. Pray they
are enough."
In my opinion, if this movement is
not fulfilled in unmistakable fashion in the elections of 2022 and 2024, the
second American Revolution will be then promptly engaged.

REGARDING PHYSICIANS' ASSISTANTS,
NURSE PRACTITIONERS AND ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSES:
I agree...with an explanation.
In 1963, within six months of having
opened my medical / allergy practice for a region in which we had arrived as
pioneers, I had to decide whether to close the practice to new patients -
because of the press of patients - or to innovate. i chose to innovate. I hired
a very good RN and trained her as my nurse practitioner. That also conformed
with the name of my new practice; Allergy Associates of New London. In the 59
years since, still practising, I have worked very well with as many as 4
full-time Nurses as my nurse practitioners. They have been excellent associates
in our care of our patients.
But they have never seen patients
without my physical presence and support in the office.
Yes, they are excellent for my
patients and for me. And I have interacted nearly daily with practitioners from
each of the above categories through their many and continuing patient
referrals from other practices for Allergy Evaluations, adult and pediatric.
But I have found that they should always work with the immediately available
advice and support of M.D.'s.
For, despite their substantial
education, training and experience, They Do Not Know What They Do Not
Know.
Thus, they are great adjuncts but no
complete substitute for physicians in the care of our patients.
I will continue to work proudly with
my Associates in our coordinated care of our patients.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: FACTS, NOT FAKE NEWS.

It was a restless week in the nation's capital. The House of Representatives and Senate were both in session—and very active.
The
Senate confirmed two Biden cabinet nominees along with a ninth circuit
judge, and a bill sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz that would have imposed
sanctions regarding the Nord Stream 2 pipeline failed by a vote of
(55-44). Importantly, Democrats filibustered this bill on the very day
that President Biden was at the Capitol pressuring Senators Sinema and
Manchin to NUKE the filibuster. Hypocrisy is alive in Washington!
The
House passed the “Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2021,” and
quickly moved on to yet another bill to grab election powers from the
state and put D.C. bureaucrats in charge.
That
election-rigging bill came in the form of H.R. 5746, a bill that had
previously passed both the House and Senate (under slightly different
versions). With an amendment, House Dems stripped H.R. 5746 of its
existing text and inserted new language to federalize elections.
As
the Senate had previously passed H.R. 5746, the bill came back to the
upper chamber “under privilege” (and with new election-rigging
language). This “privilege” had the benefit of allowing Senate
Democrats to immediately begin debate with just 51 votes, rather than
the usual 60.
The
point is… Democrats were in a real hurry—and were willing to do a lot
of legislative jiu-jitsu—all to accelerate Biden and Schumer’s plan to
nuke the filibuster and rig elections.
But it all fell apart…here’s the full story:
Blunder #1: Failure to Launch
Biden
pushed HARD for the Senate to go Nuclear and end the filibuster by
Martin Luther King Day. But by Thursday afternoon, it was clear that
the whole plan was suffering from “failure to launch.”
In
separate statements on Thursday, Senators. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and
Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) delivered devastating blows to Biden and Schumer’s
plan.
Before
Schumer could even hold his first vote on H.R. 5746 to rig election
laws, both Sinema and Manchin said that they still support the
legislative filibuster (the Senate rule that fosters debate and
requires 60 votes to move on to final passage) and have no intention of
eliminating it.
These
statements, along with a positive COVID test from Democrat Senator
Brian Schatz, delayed the final showdown on the filibuster to next week.
As
conservatives, we should still be wary of their promises. Especially
since both senators met with President Biden at the White House on
Thursday night after their statements. We need to keep up the pressure.
Remember,
if the filibuster is nuked and radical democrats pass their “Freedom to
Cheat Act”, this is what will happen to our elections:
•
Political campaigns will be PUBLICLY funded by allowing states to
opt-in to the federal financing of House races
• State voter ID laws will be undermined
• Mandated same-day registration
• Ballots cast outside the voters precinct will be counted
• Creation of unaccountable redistricting committees
• Felons will have restored voting eligibility
Blunder #2: Falling Approval and Rising Inflation
Before his trip to the Capitol on Thursday, President Biden traveled to Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday.
It
was part of a media campaign to create a sense of urgency and drum up
energy to nuke the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Cheat Act the
bill that would erode the election integrity protections that have been
put in place by states and ensure the Democrats continue their
heavy-handed reign over the American people.
Despite
Biden’s dishonesty, claiming Americans’ voting rights are being
suppressed, the truth is it’s never been easier to vote in this
country. Voter turnout showed record numbers for the 2020 presidential
election, with 67% of all citizens above the age of 18 casting a vote.

Not
only were facts absent from Biden’s speech—so was the Democrat
candidate for Governor in Georgia, Stacey Abrams. It turns out that
tying yourself to a president with a 33% approval rating isn’t
politically advantageous. Abrams' absence was a major political
embarrassment for Biden.
And
as Biden’s approval falls, inflation continues to rise. Inflation has
hit a 39-year high of 7 percent. For more on Biden’s failing economic

NOW FOR A LITTLE COMIC RELIEF...ACTUALLY
A LOT.
I just finished the new book
"All About Me - My Remarkable Life In Show Business", by Mel
Brooks.
It's certainly worth "the price
of admission" - especially if you regard humor and fall-down laughing as
the best medicine.
But this autobiography turned out to
be a trip down memory lane for me. For the early years of Melvin Kaminsky in
the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn and of George Sprecace in the Little Italy
- Belmont section of the Bronx turn out to have been very similar.
We shared the Depression . But we
shared a lot of other things:
Tootsie Rolls; Egg Creams; Balsa and
airplane glue and rubber band model airplanes; hand-made scooters with wooden
boxes and roller skates; "off the stoop"; stickball; always the last
one picked for ball games, into the outfield; push carts on the streets - my
grandfather raised his family with one; every weekend double features...for 5
cents....
And then came a bonus. Mel Brooks
loved real Italian spaghetti and meatballs...and Anne Bancroft was
Italian!
Anna Maria Louisa Italiano was born
and raised in the Belmont - Little Italy section of the Bronx. I knew that
there was something in her eyes and in her mannerisms that always held my
attention. What a great pair, for four decades until her death.
So, this book is a real bonus for
me. "Try it. You'll like it".

COVID-19 TESTING.
"IT IS A RIDDLE WRAPPED IN A
MYSTERY INSIDE AN ENIGMA".
This statement, expressed by Winston
Churchill in 1939 regarding the intentions of Russia, also describe
the role and timing and selection of
available testing for the Pandemic infections.
Now comes a small study, by
evidently reputable investigators and carefully performed, comparing the rapid
test and the PCR test. It has yet to be peer-reviewed. But given the confusion
embracing the public on this vital matter, it bears attention.

I have no personal knowledge or
expertise in this subject of choice and timing of tests. But here are the
results reported.
- The
rapid nasal test is not Positive early on despite presence of Infection.
But a Positive test means Infection.
- A
rapid Throat test would likely be more effective; but being more
complicated it is not recommended for the lay person.
- Omicron
infection does Not Involve the sensory organs. It's symptoms are generally
milder and more flu-like.
- The
PCR test is slower, but if Positive is more reliable for Infection and
transmissibility. But it may be too sensitive, and may produce false
positives.There have been negative rapid nasal tests 1-2 days after a
positive PCR.
SO: WHAT TO DO? THIS IS WHAT I WOULD
DO...NOT ADVICE OR PRESCRIPTION!
1) USE PERSONAL COMMON SENSE
REGARDING THE LIKELIHOOD OF EXPOSURE DESPITE CAUTION.
2) USE CLINICAL JUDGMENT (yours and
that of your physician) regarding any symptoms - very variable.
3) If you decide to test: a) do a
rapid nasal test and a PCR initially; b) if the rapid nasal test is Positive,
you have Infection;
c) if the rapid nasal test is
negative initially, repeat that test if the PCR returns Positive, although not
necessary if the PCR is negative.
4) EXPECT CHANGES IN ALL OF THIS AS
MORE FACTUAL INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.
That's just the way it is. But
again: Protect yourself. You do Not want to get this infection!
And GET VACCINATED.

Dear Colleagues,
This
fourth surge triggered by the omicron variant of COVID-19 is creating
immense stress on our communities, our healthcare workers, and our
institutions. The fundamental issue is that the explosive spread is
resulting in significant hospitalizations that will likely exceed our
previous peak in March 2020, at a time when our healthcare workforce is
also being stressed due to community COVID-19 infections. Based upon
international reports with omicron, I am hopeful that our eventual peak
will come quickly, and be accompanied by a rapid drop-off. We are
currently finding that of our COVID-19 admissions, between 70-80% are
unvaccinated, and of the 20-30% of admitted patients who are
vaccinated, 80% did not receive a vaccine booster. This is clear and
local data emphasizing that vaccination and boosters are hugely
effective in preventing the worst consequences of COVID-19.
Key updates:
•
Our Emergency Department teams are experiencing immense patient
volumes, and are exhibiting immense creativity in sending as many
patients as humanly possible home with follow-up to ensure that
inpatient beds are being used optimally.
•
It is critical to communicate that our EDs and Urgent Cares should not
be used to obtain COVID-19 testing – symptomatic patients should be
directed to use home tests or community PCR testing to minimize
unnecessary patients coming to our EDs.
•
Our surgical and procedural leaders are carefully reviewing all
scheduled procedures through a clinical lens to ensure that our teams
across the system are not overloaded. Ensuring access to time-sensitive
scheduled care is essential to our ability to ensure we serve our
communities’ health needs.
•
Our ambulatory enterprise is shifting once again to prioritize the use
of telehealth to minimize the risk of exposure and viral spread. These
areas are critical to caring for patients with COVID-19 in the
community setting and reducing unnecessary visits to our Emergency
Departments and subsequent hospitalizations.
•
Our Human Resources team, in close discussion with our operational
leaders, have developed innovative ways to address our ongoing staffing
needs, which will be communicated through operational channels over the
next 24 hours.
•
Our COVID-19 testing enterprise has modified its testing rubric to
ensure adequate availability of COVID-19 PCR tests for symptomatic
healthcare workers. Healthcare worker testing can be accessed at
https://ocucovidtesting.ynhhs.org. The most recent guidance regarding
healthcare worker testing and return to work is available here.
•
It is very clear that COVID-19 vaccine boosters have a substantial
impact on reducing COVID-19 infections, severity of illness,
hospitalization, and death. At present, our Occupational Health
department estimates that roughly 40 percent of our healthcare workers
have received a vaccine booster. Those who have not been boosted should
do so as soon as possible. For YNHHS employees, healthcare worker
booster appointments can be accessed within Infor. For members of the
Medical Staff who are not employed by the System, the vaccination
clinics can be accessed at https://vaccinepartner.ynhh.org.
•
Those who received a vaccine booster outside the Health System can send
in proof of booster dose administration to vaccineinfo@ynhh.org.
•
In addition the availability of sotrivimab, (the monoclonal antibody
therapy that is effective against the omicron variant) and paxlovid
(the very effective oral COVID-19 antiviral drug), our Care Signature
group and pharmacy teams have added a pathway to support the ordering
of molnupiravir, another oral antiviral COVID-19 drug. A detailed memo

The alternative? Self-Help!
- THE
HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS SICK...AND WORSENING. This had begun in the late
1980's with the DRG's and the RVS's and the explosion of "health care
insurance" behemoths, and their power on our Washington "public
servants", and the subversion of the AMA ("go along to get
along"), and these insurance companies practising Medicine without a
license through "prior authorization" mandates, and with some
hospital "Suits" placing the bottom line "uber alles".
It's now a jungle out there for both health care "providers" and
their patients - who must fight to get proper attention. And of course,
the COVID-19 PANDEMIC has accelerated the process, including the
politicization of the related Science and scientists that has cost broad
confidence in the products of that Science. The articles in support of the
above are too many to reference here. Just read the Wall Street Journal as
one reliable source amid the others that have prostituted their
"Journalism". And review the many related articles that I have
posted on this web-site throughout the last 20 years.
- "PUBLIC
EDUCATION". "Ai, and there's the rub". The news
continues from Bad to Worse, supported by its most adversely affected

Fellow Conservative,
College campuses have gone absolutely insane.
A
student group asked me to speak about our nation’s immigration laws at
the University of California at Berkeley, the so-called “birthplace of
the free speech movement.”
As you may have heard, my speech was
abruptly canceled because leftist thugs decided to riot and the
administration wouldn’t stick up for free speech.
Unfortunately, I’m not the only one to suffer threats and intimidation on campus. Far from it.
As
I point out in Resistance is Futile: How the Trump-Hating Left Lost Its
Collective Mind, ever since Donald Trump’s arrival in politics,
liberals have lost their minds. But there’s no padded room to keep them
contained! Instead, these violent, masked lunatics have taken over
college campuses, where young Americans are turned into automaton
leftists just like themselves.
Young conservatives on college
campuses across our nation are losing their right to free speech – and
even the right to walk down the street without getting sucker punched –
because of how intolerant the liberals have become.
But lest you
think I’ve given up hope, faithful conservative, there’s a group I

abuse, and indoctrination on college campuses for all the world to see:

president of a conservative group for recruiting students. With a
gesture from her middle finger, she shrieked profanities at the
conservative student and called her a “neo-fascist” and “Nazi.”
Charming.
At Purdue University in Indiana, a staffer called
conservatives “vile, racist idiots” and threatened to rape pro-life
students. (And you wonder why liberals prefer violence to debate.)
In
all three cases, LI’s Campus Reform exposed the truth. Armed with
investigative reports from their student correspondents on campus,
Campus Reform got word out to their nationwide audience of concerned
conservatives. And they brought it to news outlets like Fox News,
Newsmax, the Blaze, and numerous talk radio shows.
